Our Covent Garden foodie picks
Variety is the spice of life and Covent Garden certainly provides when it comes to food. One of the best foodie places in London, this area of the city neighbours the theatre district and serves the ideal accompaniment for show night as well as casual stop-offs. Guinness Open Gate Brewery London is nestled just a stone’s throw away from the Covent Garden piazza, here are our favourite eating spots in the new area we call home.
Ave Mario - Italian
Decked out with a seriously colourful interior and red velvet booths, Ave Mario is a feast for the eyes as much as it is for rumbling stomachs. Expect pasta-a-plenty alongside punny pizzas, our personal favourite is ‘N’duja Really Like It?’ and in case you’re wondering, it is indeed ‘wicked’.
Gilroy’s Loft - Seafood
Venture up to Gilroy’s Loft to experience seafood with a view. The crown of Guinness Open Gate Brewery London is serious about serving seafood the Guinness way. A seasonal menu keeps things fresh – knock back oysters sourced from Ireland's rich and rugged coast, try on dressed veggie food for size including buttered turnips with a tangy sauce and don’t miss the potato bread infused with seaweed salt and Guinness pale ale brewed right here on site. Beautiful bites in bright, airy and boutique trappings. One for a special occasion.

Henri – French Bistro
Henri follows all the culinary philosophies of a Parisian bistro. A relaxing candle-lit setting with gorgeously cooked French food awaits. Of course, a dash of decadence can be expected – a burger with raclette cheese, the spectacularly spiced vadouvan cauliflower and their famous duck fat fries are all delectable staples on the menu.
Old Brewer’s Yard - Pies
Surrounded by the gorgeous Victorian and Georgian architecture of the old brewery at Old Brewer’s Yard, there’s no better place to enjoy the perfect pairing of a pie and a pint. Particularly one crafted by the ‘pie king of London’, Calum Franklin. Franklin’s mouth-watering menu includes a pie flight allowing diners to try mini versions of the exquisite pie variations including the standout braised beef and Guinness pie. Completed with a classic side of creamy mash and a beer from the marvellous minds at the Guinness Open Gate Brewery – this is the ultimate London al fresco dining experience.
Mildreds – Vegan & Vegetarian
Mildreds take you on a plant-based pilgrimage around the world. The menu pulls influence from various cuisines from Sri Lanka (the Kiri Hodi curry is a highlight) to South America (try the smoky enticing flavours of the enchiladas norteñas) and the Korean fried chick+n burger which shows what can be achieved when fake meat is done right.
The Porter’s Table - Grill
At The Porter’s Table, arriving hungry is mandatory. Sharing plates are stacked with a host of fresh fare - rolled pork belly slow roasted to perfection, the Porter's beef melt featuring a smashed patty with double cheese and the unmissable chocolate Guinness cake to see things out. Overseen by chef Pip Lacey (as featured on the famed TV show Great British Menu), this dining spot is a proudly bustling communal spot teeming with imaginative dishes designed for connecting with your nearest and dearest. There’s a seat waiting for you.
