Community

Two people sit on grass facing away from the camera, both wearing Guinness hoodies. They watch people playing football.

Building connections that make a difference

Giving back runs deep in our legacy. Founder Arthur Guinness supported many causes around Dublin to give back to the city that hosted the brewery. The Guinness Trust, founded in 1890 by Edward Cecil Guinness, helped to create housing opportunities in both Dublin and London. We’re carrying on this community spirit and are committed to working alongside our Covent Garden neighbours to make the area a space that thrives for everybody.

We’re a global brand with a local heartbeat and here to make a positive difference, so we’re asking local voices of Westminster to guide us – our job is to listen and act.

Got an idea? We’re all ears.

Getting to know our neighbours

We have been running a series of discussions with the community of Westminster. Getting to know the individuals who live here to understand the challenges and causes that really matter. We see our role breaking down into the following areas:

  • Being resourceful - opening our doors to the community

  • Showing up - being present for the important things

  • Championing Covent Garden - thinking local first

  • Support existing work - backing local causes and talent

  • Integrating locals - providing opportunities to those closest to us

Giving creatives a platform

We're deeply inspired by the artistic hub that surrounds us at Covent Garden. Our mission is to amplify the next generation of creatives. The hub of Guinness Open Gate Brewery London will champion artists, musicians, photographers and film makers alike. We will be looking to host events and give great work the platform it deserves.

Partnering
with social organisations

We want to spread the word on the causes that matter most to the area. To achieve that, we are working closely with the community of Westminster to understand local challenges and where we can best support. Got a cause you're passionate about? We want to hear about it.
